Web Services

I specialize in high quality, hand-crafted websites with attractive and accessible interfaces. Optionally, these can be built around management facilities that enable site owners to edit their own site content.

I also collaborate with graphic designers by coding their designs with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and little touches of PHP.

In particular, I am able to—

  • create stylish websites that promote individuals and small businesses
  • design and manage HTML email campaigns.
  • set up WordPress blogs and Content Management Systems
  • revamp outdated websites.

I constantly keep abreast of web design best-practices, from issues of accessibility to the separation of content and presentation, and would be happy to discuss your particular requirements in more detail.

Word Services

It is easy to overlook the importance of words in this age of digital marvels. Many print publications and websites contain dazzling layouts and imagery, while the accompanying text is at best ordinary, and at worst poorly expressed, organized and proofed.

My word services include—

  • editing, proofreading & copywriting
  • accurate transcription of recorded talks, interviews etc.
  • hardcopy materials converted to fully proofed digital versions
  • preparation of print-ready layouts.

I am particularly interested in website proofing, and offer very reasonable rates for checking text before it is published online.

My love of words is supported by a background in classical languages and literature, which adds both an artistic perspective to my work and an understanding of grammar and language use in general.

If you just have a small amount of text to check—such as some text for the web or print—let me know and I’ll check it for free!

Teaching

I have a teaching background, and am available to tutor individual students and small groups in the basics of web design.
